Steven Permut has obtained a dozen favorable decisions with the National Arbitration Forum through the Uniform
Domain Name Resolution Policy (UDRP) for one of our clients in healthcare. Steve has helped our client protect one of
its most valuable assets – its brand name. Twenty domain names that were previously held by internet pirates have been
transferred to this client. In case after case, Steve was successful in showing that the internet pirates: 1) intended
to use a domain name that is a confusingly similar variation of your name or trademark; 2) have no rights or
legitimate interests to the domain name; and 3) have registered and are using the domain name in bad faith.
UDRPs are a quick and decisive procedure to force pirates and squatters to transfer ownership of confusingly
similar domain names to its rightful owners.
Steve Walmsley attended a Patent Resources Group seminar to gain a deeper understanding of the America
Invents Act (AIA) -- the most significant development in U.S. patent law in decades. One of the important
topics reviewed was post-grant patent practice, including new procedures for post-grant review, inter-partes
review, reexamination, reissue, and supplemental examination. A thorough understanding of this legislation is
critical to minimizing risks and costs, and maximizing opportunities for your business. Reising attorneys invest
in themselves to keep you ahead of your competition.
