Rick Hoffmann headed the March program for the Michigan Intellectual Property Inn of Court on the topic of Inter Partes Review. Corey Beaubien and Mike Druzinski, each a member of the Michigan Intellectual Property Inn of Court, were also instrumental in the preparation of the program.
Mike Druzinski attended an advanced patent law seminar held by the Chisum Patent Academy on March 5–6 in Cincinnati, OH. The seminar, which is limited to only 10 participants, was attended by experienced patent litigators and prosecutors from law firms and corporations from around the country.
George Grove, Dan Hegner and David Simonelli attended the State Bar of Michigan’s annual Spring Intellectual Property Conference. The conference included national speakers and officials from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and included topics of discussion ranging from recent case law to new service offerings provided by the USPTO satellite office in Detroit.
George Grove recently observed his fiftieth anniversary of practicing patent law on behalf of General Motors. He was hired March 15, 1965 by Paul J. Ethington, then an executive attorney at GM and later a namesake of our firm. During the next thirty six years Grove handled patent drafting and prosecution, joint development agreements, patent licensing, and patent litigation matters. Since retiring from GM in 2001, Grove has worked at our firm, handling patent application and prosecution matters referred to him by GM's Legal Staff.
